REAL SIMPLE. APRIL 2011

Be sure to check out Real Simple April issue. I absolutely love this magazine. They have the best DIY's and most creative and useful ideas. I especially loved it when I came across this spread. The flower rings are carved on the back and covered in stones on the front. Thinking of flowers makes me excited for spring, especially while we experience this hail shower in NY!?

I tried to recreate the 'spring and flower theme' with my own flower rings... These flowers in my room are fake but the rings are definitely real-REAL BEAUTIFUL!!!

My rings above: Bronze flower ring with turquoise

Now, to snag a similar ring for yourself, its real simple! (I will now stop with the puns!)

WHERE HAVE YOU BEENE? (my version)

In last months Elle, there was an article in memory of designer Geofferey Beene and his accomplishments. (which is where I stole the title from!) I decided to rummage through my mom's closet full of 'unique' clothes that were hip in the 80's and 90's,which means= perfection!!! My mom has soo much stuff from Mr. Beene for throughout the 80's, my father designed the jewelry for his collections. The Dweck jewelry created exclusively for the Beene show was the epitome of the 80's. Long stone pendants, very large earrings, fabric bangles and very colorful statement pieces such as headpieces and belts.

My interpretation was a little bit of everything. I found a Beene grey knit long sleeve dress and orange wool plaid caplet thing (it even came with an oversized hood but I ditched it). I paired it with very 80's Dweck jewelry (hand painted bangles and chunky turquoise necklace and earrings) Finished off with some orangey lipstick, American Apparel dotted tights, random sunglasses and green plaid Prada wedges.

Heres close up of the chunky jewels and hand painted bangles...

UP IN THE AIR. ELLE MARCH

Katy Perry looks gorgeous on the cover of Elle Magazine. In the story she wears several bronze, gold and serpent pieces, including this Dweck bronze serpent collar necklace.

In the spread Up In The Air, dancers Jenifer Ringer and Benjamin Millepied (the lovely actress Natalie Portman's fiance and baby daddy) star in this beautifully-taken shoot. Jenifer is literally bedecked in Dweck jewels as she waltzes through the air. Check out the beautiful spread HERE!

WOOD AND METAL

The other day at the Barney's Warehouse Sale I came across the most genius shoes. Im a very big shoe girl and I was ecstatic I when I found these treasures in the midst of chaos and mess. Through piles of 7's and single shoes of too many designers, I found these Marni wood sculptural wedges with metal on the heels. They retailed for $935 but I got them for $150- definitely a bargain. I have a feeling they will be part of a lot of future outfits.

Here I pair them with a wood ball and silver charm necklace. The necklace is definitely a statement and obviously gorgeous. With the rings, the more the merrier.

Dress: Topshop. Shoes: Marni. Lipstick: Urban Decay. All Jewelry: Stephen Dweck

PEARLY WHITES

As mentioned in the comment I posted earlier (here!), I just spent my Wednesday in the design room in the factory in Brooklyn. Sometimes, I visit to play around and when I get lucky I discover new chains or stones. Sometimes I just show my father a beautiful photo and that inspires him to scribble on his notepad a new piece. But today I felt very crafty and hard at work! I was focused on the upcoming QVC collection but a very new style. My raw materials were silver and white pearls.

First step of the process is the cardboard with masking tape so the beads and chains stay in place..

I used different size pearls. Here is a small fraction of the beads that hang on the wall!

And here are the silver chains that I was choosing from.
