Back in March, an enormous earthquake and tsunami hit Eastern Japan, leaving the island and it's surrounding areas in turmoil. The aftershocks continued for days and soon the entire world was praying for Japan. As soon as the news was known worldwide, the Japan Society established the Japan Relief Fund, which supports organizations providing aid and relief to victims.
The world is still praying for Japan, which is why Stephen Dweck Japan, as well as thousands of others, donated to the fund. The team at Dweck wanted to create something useful and relevant as well as beautiful. They developed a whistle with the thoughts that if any case of emergency might happen, a whistle can be heard in a crowd. The whistles were donated to the fund to be sold, with 100% of the proceeds to go directly to helping the victims.

To date, Dweck Jewelry has helped raise over $12,500 USD for this cause.
We pray that the people of Japan are safe, healthy and together with their families.

Vogue Mexico has been a fan of Dweck Jewelry for years. Each month's pages are filled with gorgeous, decadent jewels, most being vintage and one of a kind pieces. I am actually biased to all the international Vogues, for they are more daring with their spreads and produce a more avant- garde magazine.
Although my paternal grandmother is from Cuba and speaks fluent Spanish with my father, Im ashamed to admit that my Spanish is very inadequate and quite lousy. Despite the entire magazine being in Spanish, anyone can appreciate stunning photos and jewels, without speaking the language!
Below are some of my findings from Vogue Mexico from the past three months. Each cover is more gorgeous than the next. Enjoy!
Crystal Renn covers Vogue Mexico's April cover. I love her. Last year I read her biography Hungry, where she shared her personal struggle of the pressures of becoming a young supermodel, I absolutely recommend it.
The photos below, were inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo. The colors are spectacular.
A multi-link bronze chain collar
A smoky quartz and bronze ring
Vintage bronze charm earrings
A gorgeous bronze charm and raw turquoise necklace
Vogue Mexico May 2011, starring supermodel Cindy Crawford.
Love the color combo of pale pink and leopard
A leather knotted and brass necklace
Kim Noorda on the June cover, looking perfectly fresh and stunning for summer.
An unbelievable vintage necklace made of orange feathers and charms
The only reason why this post title is so short, is because the collection of magazines is so random! I found these photos from magazines from this past Spring. Although the photos range from a travel magazine to a teen magazine, they are all beautiful and intriguing photos. Enjoy!
SOMA is an avant-garde and chic magazine, and this summer's travel issue featured various Dweck pieces. In the spread All on the Line, Vanusa and Jia model Dweck pieces in every shot. For the full story check SOMA's Website.
On the cover: a hand-carved black wood bangle
A smoky quartz and silver necklace
Wooden bangles studded with angular gems
Below are two images from the June Allure, staring January Jones. Allure is a really great beauty magazine, but features stunning spreads and tons of useful and doable beauty tricks.

Sessile in Energy Drink wearing a faceted turquoise ring
(and the coveted Prada dress)
Below, Emma shines in Seventeen's May 2011 issue. She pairs her girly-yet tough dresses with layered and textured rings, a look thats very wearable!

A little hard to see, but Emma wearing a raw jasper and silver ring
Look out for more Dweck pieces, more press to follow!
From the second I bought my American Apparel clutch, I knew it was screaming for a DIY. Luckily I literally found on every blog that they coolest thing right now is to paint the bottom a contrasting, striking color. Out of all the metallics, opaque bronzey-gold is my favorite. I used an acrylic paint, (which can be used on any material), painters tape to make an exact line and a foam brush.
The result: perfection!
My new pouch with a classic laid back outfit. Lots of shiny bronze jewelry: Stephen Dweck.
My comfy, go to outfit: T Shirt: Alexander Wang. Shorts: Gap. Shoes: Naot (I promise, my sandals are really comfortable and not completely unfashionable!)
A jumble of my chain necklaces on my new gilded pouch
Upon being impressed by my clutch, I used the paint to spruce up a pair of really cute wedges. The original heel was rubber and dirty, so the new gold paint gave it a second life! The wedges now look 1000 times more exotic, which is a perfect pairing for Dweck jewelry!
Shoes: Cynthia Steffe for Target
Im not sure what I am going to paint next, but Im very excited! Any ideas!??
This past Sunday was Father's Day, and every year I wake up early to make a brunch. Since this is my first year being a vegan, my typical menu changed a bit, but it was still delicious. I used vegetables from the farmers market and strawberries from our garden. The best part was when everyone sat down, ate and literally showered me with compliments!!
I hope you had a great day and to all the fathers, happy fathers day!
Our father's day brunch, which I made at way too early in the morning
On the menu: clockwise starting from fresh berries, vegan cranberry-orange scones with homemade berry jam, spicy tempeh and tomato, wilted greens (spinach, artichokes and peas) and toasted pine nuts, roasted potatoes with stinging nettle pesto (a farmers market tangy green)
The menu revamped vegan
The homemade vegan scones and jam served on some
of the milk glass my parents collect at flea markets
Vegan scones, spread with earth balance and jam
I made from berries reduced in water and agave
The stools I got my father for fathers day. We have similar ones from Mexico,
but these Serena and Lily ones were too cute to pass up.
The Coveteur is an online website that showcases designers, editors and fashion mavens most coveted possession, their closet! Each post is full with juicy details of their favorite pieces, whether a gift from a designer, their grandmother or a great sample sale find, every piece has a story. Last weeks post on Kate Davidson Hudson, the Accessories Director at ELLE, showed her collection of jewelry, including a Dweck ring!
Check out the full story HERE and view the photo below

In addition to The Coveteur, I religiously follow a few other websites and blogs for inspiration. My favorites include: the hilarious Man Repeller, the very informative Into the Gloss, and the very fun yet chic Teen Vogue tumblr.
Do you know or have a favorite blog or website I should check out?? Tell me!!!
The CFDA, the ultra chic and exclusive council of American fashion designers, came out with their latest book. In 2009, the CFDA published the American Fashion Cookbook, showcasing designers personal recipes and illustrations. My father included our family's beloved Arroz Con Pollo, a Cuban staple and an all around favorite. My grandma, my fathers mother, is from Cuba, and although she cooks unbelievable Cuban dishes, this dish is our favorite! Below is the recipe and gorgeous illustration found in the book.
Ingredients: 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces (remove skin, if desired) 1/4 cup olive oil 2 large onions, chopped 6 cloves of garlic, diced 1 large green pepper, chopped 4 plum tomatoes (canned whole tomatoes), chopped 1/2 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed, chopped finely 2 bay leaves 1 packet of Goya Sazon seasoning 1 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. salt 1 can of beer 4 tbsp. cider vinegar Roasted red peppers Frozen peas, thawed Capers 2 saffron threads
NOW..Back to the point of this post, the CFDA just introduced their latest book, American Fashion Travel, highlighting designers' personal photos and travel tips. My father is featured again and makes a cameo in one of the photos! A few months ago, my mom and I, helped my father put together a collage of my father's room keys. The final photo looks great and the page is so inspiring!
The book. SO chic on the bench in the hallway.
Below, my fathers page. My mom, Sarise, also makes a semi-cameo!
The photos in clockwise order: the collage of room keys, my father in the Ramon Crater in Israel (trust me I was there, in the dead of summer it felt like over 100 degrees!), and a mosaic in Barcelona
NOTE: Both books are inspiring, beautiful and glamorous. Check them out. Also, we are all avid cooks, chefs and bakers. We also happen to enjoy eating the food! I hope you enjoy the recipe and personal comments. We love to share!
Today, Tuesday the 14th, was the the first day of the sample sale. There were plenty of styles, new and old. There were trays full of earrings, rings and a room full of necklaces. They're were many pieces from past collections, and many pieces that were never seen before. Bottom Line: there was something for everyone!
The sale continues until tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th, so if you're in the neighborhood, I definitely recommend stopping by, TRUST ME!!!
The view from the terrace on the 17th floor.
Trays full of rings. I always say you can never have too many rings.
One corner of the big room full of necklaces of all lengths and styles.
Trays full of earrings, both clip on and pierced.
I love how all the rich, jewel-tone colors look together, especially on the grey leather pouch I bought today from American Apparel, (which I will DIY, pictures to come..)
My goodies from the day. I was in an earrings mood.
I have the earliest memories of Sundays in NYC with my family. Many times my father would drop by Bergdorf Goodman and visit his counter of jewelry. After we chatted with a few of the sales people, I would run up the escalator to the second floor where I would oogle over the shoes that fill the floor, which I believe began my obsession with collecting beautiful shoes. Many years later I still do the same and I enjoy it even more when I buy!
If you've never been, here's what the counter looks like, but up close its more beautiful.
The counter at Bergdorf
The very precious and beautiful rings that
were in the Bergdorf accessories book
My very glamorous Dries Van Noten pumps that I got at 30% off.
Stunning, comfortable and on-sale!!
Speaking of, this past weekend I spent the rainy days reading Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes. The book was adorable and extremely chic, but not your typical chic-lit. Next up, Debutante Divorcee, also by Sykes.
Its that time of year again!!!
Its where you're allowed to feel completely shameless and guiltless while shopping. Although the excuse "I got it on sale", is a little bit dated, the pieces at this years sample sale is completely the opposite. Many pieces are new, so a favorite is sure to be found. No matter the style, colors or collection, a steal like this is too big to pass up. Below is the info about the sale, happy shopping!!!

Alexander McQueen was a fashion legend, way above his time and fashion peers. Every part of his designs were original; his inspiration, his vision of a story and ultimately the clothes he designs, are all spectacles. Honoring the late designer, The MET put on the show Savage Beauty to showcase his designs from throughout his career. Select pieces were shown from his first collection in 1992 up until, and including his final collection of Fall 2010. Each piece was more creative and avant garde than the next. In addition to clothes, there were dozens of headpieces, jewelry and videos that were shown in each fashion show. From beginning to end, I don't think any detail was left amiss. There were different sections and rooms based on how the designer was inspired (romantic, gothic, etc...) There was lace, plaid, leathers, horsehair, fur, duck feathers, rhinestones, metals, layers and layers of ruffles, and much more. I can't even describe everything, it was that unbelievable!
Even though photography wasn't allowed, I quickly snapped this wallpaper with the most unbelievable detailing.
I apologize for this semi OK pictures. After the second picture an old lady scolded me until I put my camera away. After I shut my purse, she was satisfied and moved on!!
Two breathtaking gowns.
A ruffled, cream lace and in the background, a gown made of fake and real flowers, which were included on intention that they would rot and add to the romantic-dark effect.
The video below was presented by the dress from the 1999 fashion show. The dress was heavy canvas and leather, which was then painted like a piece of art during the finale.
The video below is a spectacular hologram of Kate Moss during the finale of the Fall 2006 show. The "oyster"dress appears as if it was floating, which shows the unbelievable craftsmanship.
If you're in the NYC area, definitely try and see the show, it ends the first week of August. If you're not able to, check out the gift items from the show. My father bought the book from the exhibit, something he always does after a museum visit!
I thought it was time to be a good blogger and take pictures of my outfits and jewelry styling. Since I was in a rush (as usual), I didn't get a full head to toe picture, but next time I will!
This Rodarte for Target dress is really adorable, with a lacy camisole slip underneath and tulle on top and bows on the shoulders. Sometimes it looks babyish, other times it looks ballerina-ish but this time it looked tougher. I was going for a 'cool' look with dark bronze colorful jewelry and studded Miu Miu heels. BTW the dress was $40, which makes me really happy, especially since the real stuff retails for thousands!
Dress: Rodarte for Target. Fur: vintage. Everything else: Stephen Dweck Jewelry
And the next night I didn't take a picture at all, silly me!! Anyway, this Lanvin for H&M dress is also stunning, with ruffles and a flower print that is 100% Lanvin. The cuffs are black agate set on leather and grosgrain ribbon that ties them up. They are my go-to accessories to toughen up a look. The necklace is also a favorite, with shiny bronze and a mix of colorful stones. The earrings are also spectacular, with an engraving on the top that makes them elegant yet sexy.
Dress: Lanvin for H&M. Everything else: Stephen Dweck Jewelry
Shiny bronze and amethyst carved earrings.
Hard to believe but they are clip-ons and light as air, perfect for a long night.
